- ½ cup Butter
- 1 cup Self-rising flour
- ¾ cup Granulated sugar
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 4-5 Ripe bananas The browner and spottier, the better!
- ½ cup Brown sugar Packed
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 pinch Salt

- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the ½ cup of butter in your 9x13 inch baking dish and pop it in the oven to melt while preparing the other ingredients.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, and whole milk until smooth.
- Slice the ripe bananas into rounds. In a separate bowl, gently toss the banana slices with the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
- Take the hot dish with melted butter out of the oven. Pour the batter over the butter.
- Evenly spoon the seasoned banana mixture over the batter. Do not stir.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Best Bananas: Use bananas with lots of brown spots for a sweeter and caramelized flavor. Don't Stir: Let the batter rise up around the fruit on its own. Variations: Add mini chocolate chips or shredded coconut for a different twist. Storage: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
