Traditional Greek Filo Meat Pie (Kreatopita) Made Easy in Your Pressure Cooker

  • 500 g Ground beef fresh and good quality
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil for sautéing
  • 100 g Butter melted, for brushing filo
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 Eggs lightly beaten
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Grated cheese kefalotyri or parmesan
  • 8 sheets Filo pastry

  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté chopped onion and garlic until soft.
  • Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink. Season with oregano, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  • Let the meat mixture cool slightly.
  • In a bowl, combine meat mixture with eggs, milk, and grated cheese. Mix well.
  • Brush baking dish with melted butter. Layer four filo sheets, brushing each with butter.
  • Spread meat filling evenly over filo base.
  • Top with remaining four sheets, brushing each with butter. Tuck edges and score top for steam to vent.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  • Cool briefly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store cooled leftovers in foil or airtight containers for up to 3 days in the fridge, or freeze up to 3 months. Reheat in oven for best texture.
