Equipment

  • 1 roasting pan
  • 1 basting brush
  • 1 small saucepan
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 meat thermometer
  • 1 aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 8 to 10 pounds fully cooked bone-in ham
  • 1 cup honey
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Place the ham in a roasting pan, flat side down. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern for better glaze adhesion.
  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, black pepper, brown sugar, and water. Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking until the sugar dissolves and the glaze is well combined.
  • Brush half of the glaze over the top and sides of the ham evenly.
  • Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for about 2 hours, or until heated through (internal temperature should reach 140°F/60°C).
  • After 1 hour of baking, remove the foil and baste the ham with the remaining glaze. Continue baking uncovered for the last 30 minutes.
  • After 2 hours, check the internal temperature of the ham; it should be at least 140°F (60°C). If not, continue baking until the desired temperature is reached.
  • Once done, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for approximately 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use leftovers for sandwiches or soups to enjoy the flavors in another dish.
Ensure to keep an eye on the glaze during the last 30 minutes to prevent burning.
For a more intense flavor, let the glazed ham rest in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight before baking.
