Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey Adjust sweetness to preference.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional, for a slight kick.

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine the mayonnaise, white vinegar, honey, and Dijon mustard.
  • Whisk together the mixture over low heat until well combined and smooth. (You don't need to cook it, just warm it to help blend the flavors.)
  • Add the sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper, if using.
  • Continue to whisk until all the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature.
  • Transfer the Sweet Onion Sauce to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.
  • Allow the sauce to chill for at least 1 hour before using to let the flavors meld together.

Notes

This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey to your preference.
You can use this sauce as a dressing for salads, a spread on sandwiches, or a dip for veggies.
