Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups pretzel sticks (crushed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (divided) ¼ cup for crust and ¼ cup for cream cheese mixture.
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Make sure it's fully softened to avoid lumps.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping
  • 2 cups strawberry gelatin (prepared)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed pretzel sticks, melted butter, and ¼ cup granulated sugar. Mix well until all the pretzels are coated.
  • Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish to create an even crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  • In another bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and the remaining ¼ cup granulated sugar. Beat together until smooth and fluffy.
  • Fold in the whipped topping gently until just combined.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  • Prepare the strawberry gelatin according to package instructions and let it cool slightly.
  • Once slightly cooled, stir in the sliced strawberries into the gelatin mixture and pour it over the cream cheese layer.
  • Refrigerate the salad for at least 2 hours, or until the gelatin is set.
  • Serve chilled, cutting into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For a twist, you can substitute other fruits like raspberries or blueberries.
Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
This dessert can be prepared a day in advance for convenience.
