- 1 package cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (15 oz) strawberry pie filling
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) For added flavor.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking dish lightly with non-stick spray or butter.
In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk together until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
In the prepared baking dish, spread the strawberry pie filling evenly on the bottom. Layer the fresh sliced strawberries over the pie filling.
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries, spreading it gently to cover as much as possible.
In a separate bowl, mix the yellow cake mix with melted butter and milk until just combined. Pour this mixture over the cream cheese layer evenly. If desired, sprinkle cinnamon on top for added flavor.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is bubbling around the edges.
Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
This dessert is best served warm, but can also be enjoyed cold.
You can top it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
Feel free to substitute the strawberry filling with other fruit fillings, such as blueberry or cherry, if desired.
