Dredge each cubed steak in the seasoned flour, ensuring they are well-coated on both sides. Shake off any excess flour.
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, add the cubed steaks to the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the steaks and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom of the skillet.
Return the cubed steaks to the skillet, sprinkle with thyme, and bring to a simmer.
Cover the skillet, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the steaks are tender and the gravy has thickened.
