Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 cheese grater
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ¼ cup pickles, sliced
  • ½ cup salsa for serving
  • ¼ cup sour cream for serving

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly until the seasonings are evenly distributed.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Make sure to break it into small pieces while cooking.
  • Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the skillet and set aside. Wipe the skillet clean.
  • Return the skillet to the heat and add the vegetable oil. Place one tortilla in the skillet, then layer half of the cooked ground beef on one half of the tortilla. Sprinkle with a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese on top of the beef.
  • Fold the tortilla in half to cover the filling. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  • Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining tortillas, beef, and cheese.
  • Slice the quesadillas into wedges and serve with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, pickles, salsa, and sour cream on the side.
  • For added flavor, consider adding sautéed onions or mushrooms to the quesadilla filling.
  • These quesadillas can be customized with your favorite toppings, such as avocado or jalapeños.
  • If you prefer, you can use cooked chicken or turkey instead of beef for a different twist.
