- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup sliced pepperoni
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- to taste salt and pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Add the sliced pepperoni and mix well. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until heated through.
Meanwhile, toast the hamburger buns if desired.
Once the mixture is heated through, top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover the skillet and let it cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Spoon the mixture onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Place the top half of the bun over the mixture and serve warm.
Feel free to customize the toppings by adding ingredients like bell peppers, olives, or mushrooms for extra flavor.
You can also use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
Serve with a side salad or potato chips for a complete meal.
