Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries About 1 lb.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Optional, adjust based on preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Optional, adds brightness.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  • Rinse the strawberries under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Remove the green tops of the strawberries and slice them in half lengthwise. If the strawberries are large, you may want to quarter them.
  • If desired, toss the sliced strawberries in a bowl with granulated sugar and lemon juice to enhance their sweetness and add brightness.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Arrange the strawberry slices cut side up in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they do not overlap.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake the strawberries for about 2 to 3 hours, checking them after 2 hours for doneness.
  • Once dried, remove the strawberries from the oven and let them cool completely before storing.
  • Store the dried strawberries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, or refrigerate them for longer shelf life.

Notes

You can adjust the amount of sugar based on your preference and the sweetness of the strawberries.
These oven-dried strawberries can be used as a topping for yogurt, oatmeal, or salads, or enjoyed as a healthy snack on their own.
