Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the mini muffin pan or line it with mini muffin liners.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cardamom until well combined.
In another bowl, beat together the egg, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin pan, filling each cup about two-thirds full.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the muffins are baking, prepare the vanilla bean glaze. In a small saucepan, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla bean seeds or extract. Whisk until smooth and set aside.
Once the muffins are baked, allow them to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
Drizzle the vanilla bean glaze over the cooled muffins.
Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.
