Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 plate for serving

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
  • to taste none salt
  • to taste none black pepper
  • as needed none lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Begin by patting the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the salmon with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  • Once the butter is melted and bubbly, add the minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  • Place the seasoned salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving them, allowing the skin to get crispy.
  • Carefully flip the salmon fillets using a spatula. Add the dried thyme and parsley into the skillet, spooning some of the garlic butter over the fillets.
  • Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and serve the salmon immediately, drizzled with the remaining garlic butter from the pan, and with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For a crispy skin, make sure not to move the salmon too much while it's cooking.
Feel free to add vegetables like asparagus or broccoli to the skillet during the last few minutes of cooking for a complete meal.
Leftover salmon can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
