1 large skillet or frying pan
1 spatula or wooden spoon
1 measuring cups and spoons
1 cutting board
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 cups bell peppers, sliced mixed colors
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce can use tamari for gluten-free option
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for heat
- for serving cooked rice or noodles optional
Prepare the ingredients by washing and slicing the vegetables and measuring out the honey, soy sauce, and garlic.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned.
Add the bell peppers and broccoli to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
Push the sausage and vegetables to one side of the skillet. Add the shrimp to the other side and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using.
Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque.
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey and soy sauce. Pour this mixture over the shrimp, sausage, and vegetables in the skillet.
Stir everything together and cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat all the ingredients.
Remove from heat. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles if desired.
Feel free to use any combination of vegetables you prefer or have on hand.
This dish can easily be made gluten-free by using tamari sauce instead of regular soy sauce.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving.
