Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper (optional)
  • 1 clean kitchen towel

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water About 110°F / 43°C
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter Melted
  • Extra melted butter for brushing on top

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  • Gradually add in the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, stirring until a dough forms. You may not need all the flour, so adjust as necessary.
  • Once the dough comes together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  • Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • After the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  • Remove the rolls from the oven and brush the tops with extra melted butter for added flavor and shine.

Notes

You can add herbs or garlic powder to the dough for extra flavor.
If you have leftover rolls, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
