Instructions
Instructions
Start by heating your skillet on medium and brown that ground beef until it's fully cooked. You wanna get all those browned bits but drain off the fat so the dish doesn’t turn greasy.
Next you grab a big mixing bowl and toss together your cooked beef, the uncooked rice, French onion soup, and beef consomme. Stir it all up real good so every grain gets some love.
Take your greased casserole dish and spread the mixture evenly inside. You want a nice flat surface so it cooks evenly through. Then dot the top with those sliced pats of butter.
Cover the dish up with foil real tight so nothing dries out in the oven. Slide it into your preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bake it for 30 minutes covered. Then pull off the foil and bake another 10 minutes so the rice gets tender and the liquid fully absorbs.
When you pull it out, sprinkle chopped chives over top if you want to add some fresh zing and color.
Notes
Serve warm with a sprinkle of fresh chives if desired.
