First, melt your butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Toss in those sliced onions and cook 'em slow till they’re soft and caramelized. Takes about 10 minutes, so you get a sweet, rich base. For more tips on caramelizing, check out pressure cooker meals.
Next, add your mushrooms to the skillet. Season everything with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook those mushrooms down till they’re tender, roughly 5-7 minutes. You’re building flavor here!
In a separate bowl, mix your ground beef with Worcestershire sauce if you’re using it. Sprinkle a bit more salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Get your hands in there and mix it up real good.
Shape your beef into patties. Then cook them in the same skillet with the onions and mushrooms until browned and cooked through. About 6-7 minutes per side. This is where that pressure cooker prep really shines.
Take the patties out and set ’em aside. Now in that skillet, lay down a slice of bread. Top it with a patty and sprinkle on the cheese. Cover it with another piece of bread.
Grill the sandwich till it’s golden brown and the cheese melts, around 3-4 minutes per side. Keep an eye on it so you get that perfect crunch without burning.
Repeat the sandwich making for all patties and bread slices you got. Make sure every bite’s tasty and melty and golden.
Slice your patty melts in half, serve ‘em up warm, and get ready to enjoy every cheesy, juicy bite. For more sandwich ideas, see our pressure cooker meals.
