  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper or wax paper
  • 1 Ziplock bag (optional)

Ingredients

  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup colorful Easter candies Such as M&M's or chocolate eggs.

Instructions

  • Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent sticking.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth (about 1-2 minutes total).
  • Stir in the vanilla extract once the mixture is fully melted and combined.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the Rice Chex cereal. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold until all the cereal is well-coated.
  • In a separate bowl or a large Ziplock bag, add the powdered sugar. After coating the cereal, transfer it to the bowl or bag and shake gently until the cereal is evenly coated with powdered sugar.
  • Gently stir in the colorful Easter candies into the mixture.
  • Spread the mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Once cooled, break the muddy buddies apart and serve in bowls or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the Easter candies with other seasonal candies to match different holidays.
For a fun variation, you can add nuts, pretzels, or even dried fruit.
