Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour both round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, level the tops of the cakes with a knife if needed. Place one cake on the cake board or serving platter.
Spread a layer of whipped cream or frosting over the top of the first cake layer. Place the second cake on top.
Cover the entire cake with another layer of whipped cream or frosting. Use a spatula to create a smooth finish.
To create the bunny's ears, cut out heart shapes from the remaining cake or use additional frosting to shape ears. Place them on top of the cake.
If desired, color some of the remaining frosting pink or another color and use it to pipe details on the ears or around the cake.
Decorate with coconut flakes to resemble fur, and add candies for eyes and a nose.
Chill the cake in the refrigerator before serving to set the frosting.
