Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a bowl to make the spice rub.
Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
Place the pork shoulder into the crock pot and pour Dr. Pepper over it.
Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until pork is tender and can be shredded easily.
Remove pork from the crock pot and shred using two forks.
Mix shredded pork with BBQ sauce before serving.
