Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix 15.25 oz
- 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix 3.9 oz
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk 240 ml
- ½ cup vegetable oil 120 ml
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, instant chocolate pudding mix, eggs, milk, and vegetable oil. Use a whisk or spoon to mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the cake batter evenly.
- Carefully pour the boiling water over the entire cake, making sure to cover it well. Do not stir; the liquid will create a luscious chocolate sauce at the bottom.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top appears set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the cake cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
Notes
This cake is best served warm, but it can also be served cold.
