  • 2 lbs Italian sausage casings removed
  • 3.5 cups Broth any kind
  • 16 oz Short cut pasta ditalini or similar
  • 1 cup Diced peppers any color
  • 1 cup Diced mushrooms fresh
  • 5 cloves Garlic minced
  • 15 oz Tomato sauce smooth
  • 1 cup Milk any kind
  • 4 oz Cream cheese softened and cubed
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese shredded
  • 2 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper freshly ground
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
  • 1-2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the Italian sausage. Cook while breaking into crumbles until fully browned, then drain excess fat.
  • Add garlic, diced peppers, and diced mushrooms. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring, until vegetables begin to soften.
  • Add salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning. Stir to combine.
  • Add broth, tomato sauce, milk, and pasta to the pan. Stir to mix everything thoroughly. Bring mixture to a simmer.
  • Lower the heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then uncover and cook another 5-7 minutes until pasta is al dente.
  • Stir in cream cheese and parmesan cheese. Stir until fully melted and incorporated into a creamy sauce. Serve hot.

Notes

If your sausage isn't well seasoned, adjust salt and spice as needed to taste. Leftovers store well and are great for meal prep!
