- 12 oz cheese tortellini fresh or frozen
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts diced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- fresh parsley chopped, for garnish
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the tortellini and cook according to package instructions, typically about 3-5 minutes for fresh tortellini or longer for frozen. In the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pot. Drain the tortellini and broccoli in a colander and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced chicken and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Once the chicken is cooked, add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
Pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Add the Parmesan cheese and mix until it melts and combines with the cream, creating a smooth sauce.
Add the cooked tortellini and broccoli to the skillet, gently tossing to coat them in the garlic parmesan sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is warmed through.
Adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
You can substitute the chicken with shrimp or keep it vegetarian by using only tortellini and broccoli.
For added flavor, consider adding red pepper flakes for a bit of heat or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
If you want a thinner sauce, you can add a bit of chicken broth or pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
