Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 large skillet
  • 3 shallow bowls for breading
  • 1 meat mallet or rolling pin for flattening chicken
  • 1 cooking utensils tongs, spatula
  • 1 oven or toaster oven

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup marinara sauce
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 6 slider buns
  • fresh basil leaves, for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the chicken: Place the chicken breasts between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound them to about ½ inch thickness.
  • Set up a breading station: In one shallow bowl, add the flour mixed with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
  • Dip each piece of chicken first into the flour, shaking off excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to secure the coating.
  • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken pieces and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  • Assemble the sliders: Place a breaded chicken piece on each slider bun, top with a spoonful of marinara sauce and a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Place the assembled sliders on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

You can use store-bought marinara sauce for convenience, or make your own for added flavor.
For a spicier kick, consider adding some crushed red pepper to the marinara sauce.
These sliders can also be made in advance and reheated in the oven before serving.
