Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef beef that’s ready to turn into something delicious
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for that perfect sizzle when you start cooking
  • 1 cup mushrooms finely chopped, adds earthiness and loads of texture to the filling
  • 1 small onion chopped, gives a sweet bite when it cooks down nice and soft
  • 2 cloves garlic minced, because garlic makes everything taste better, right?
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano for a hint of herbal warmth mixing with the beef
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin adds a touch of smokiness to spice things up just right
  • Salt and pepper to taste, the basics to balance all the flavors
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese brings the melty, gooey part everybody loves
  • 4 pita breads halved, perfect to stuff with all that filling goodness
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce cool, tangy, and fresh, making every bite amazing
  • Chopped lettuce and tomatoes optional, adds a crisp, fresh crunch if you're feeling fancy

Instructions

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. You gotta wait for that oil to shimmer a little before adding anything.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté these until they turn translucent and smell dang good. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes.
  • Put in the ground beef and cook it until it browns nicely. Make sure you break it apart as it cooks so it cooks evenly.
  • Stir in the mushrooms, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Let this cook for about 5 more minutes so everything kinda melds together.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and mix in your shredded cheese until it melts and you see it getting all gooey.
  • Fill each pita half with the cheesy beef and mushroom mixture. Serve these warm and don’t forget the tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping!

Notes

Serve warm and enjoy with tzatziki sauce on the side.
