- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter 1 stick
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups finely chopped apples about 2 medium apples
- ½ cup caramel sauce
- a pinch salt
Line the 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring continuously. Allow to boil for 5 minutes without stirring until it turns a light golden brown. Remove from heat.
Stir in the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk into the caramel mixture using a rubber spatula until completely melted and smooth.
Add in the vanilla extract, chopped apples, and a pinch of salt. Mix until incorporated.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top and use a knife or spatula to swirl it into the fudge.
Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then transfer it to the refrigerator for an additional hour to set completely.
Once set, lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment overhang. Cut into 12 even squares.
For extra flavor, you can sprinkle some cinnamon or nutmeg into the fudge mixture before pouring it into the pan.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
