Equipment

  • 1 8-inch square pan
  • 1 Medium saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 Candy thermometer (optional)
  • 1 Parchment paper (optional)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • cup evaporated milk
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped You can toast the pecans beforehand for enhanced flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the square pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly to ensure easy removal of the fudge later.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, unsalted butter, evaporated milk, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
  • Once boiling, continue stirring and allow the mixture to cook for about 5 minutes or until it reaches the soft ball stage (approximately 235°F on a candy thermometer).
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and chopped pecans. Stir until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Allow it to cool at room temperature for about 2 hours or until fully set.
  • Once set, cut the fudge into squares and serve.

Notes

You can toast the pecans beforehand in a skillet over medium heat for enhanced flavor.
Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
Feel free to experiment by adding other mix-ins such as caramel swirls or different nuts.
