Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate cake mix the base that turns super fluffy and moist in the cooker
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling juicy cherries bring sweet tartness and color
  • 2 cups heavy cream whipped up for creamy layers
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar sweetens the whipped cream without grit
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract adds warmth and depth to your cream
  • ½ cup chocolate shavings the final garnish that’s crunchy and rich
  • ¼ cup kirsch optional; a little splash of cherry brandy for grown-up kick

Instructions

Instructions

  • Bake the chocolate cake according to the package but tweak it for pressure cooker style - use the pot as your oven tray lining it with parchment paper and a quick release valve on.
  • Let the cake cool completely. You don’t want warm cake messing with your whipped cream texture.
  • Cut the cake into cubes. They gotta be bite size but not crumbly.
  • In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract till you see stiff peaks forming. Be careful not to over whip.
  • In a trifle bowl, lay down half your cake cubes first. This sets a sturdy base.
  • Spoon half the cherry pie filling over those cake cubes, making sure those juicy bits spread around well.
  • Drizzle the kirsch all over if you’re using it; then add a thick layer of whipped cream. Now repeat these layers once more - cake, cherries, kirsch, then cream.
  • Top with a generous sprinkle of chocolate shavings before covering the trifle and refrigerating for at least two hours. This slow release chilling gets everything to settle and marry flavors.

Notes

Serve chilled after at least two hours refrigeration. Kirsch is optional but recommended for added flavor depth. Store leftovers in airtight containers and consume within 3 days for best quality.
