Equipment

  • 1 cocktail shaker
  • 1 measuring jigger
  • 1 mixing glass
  • 1 strainer
  • 4 rimmed glass for serving
  • 1 small plate for rimming

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz tequila
  • 4 oz orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 4 oz pumpkin puree
  • 4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • optional salt or sugar for rimming glasses
  • optional pumpkin pie spice for garnish

Instructions
 

  • If desired, rim your glasses with salt or sugar. To do this, run a lime wedge around the rim of each glass. Then, dip the rim into a small plate filled with salt or sugar.
  • In a mixing glass, combine the tequila, orange liqueur, pumpkin puree, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  • Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Pour the mixture from the mixing glass into the shaker.
  • Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glasses filled with ice.
  • Optional: Garnish with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice on top.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness of the margarita by increasing or decreasing the amount of simple syrup based on your preference.
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the tequila and orange liqueur with sparkling water or a non-alcoholic margarita mix.
Serve with spiced nuts or nachos for a perfect pairing.
