Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk or spoon
  • 2 mason jar or airtight container
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 refrigerator

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups almond milk or any milk of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 ripe banana mashed
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup optional for sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt
  • as needed sliced banana and nuts for topping optional

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, almond milk, chia seeds, mashed banana, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  • Divide the mixture into two mason jars or airtight containers. Seal the jars or containers with the lid.
  • Place the jars in the refrigerator and let them sit overnight (or for at least 4 hours) to allow the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid and soften.
  • In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.
  • Top with additional sliced banana and nuts before serving, if desired.

Notes

You can customize these overnight oats with your favorite fruits, nuts, or seeds.
Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup based on your taste preference.
The oats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, making this recipe great for meal prep.
For a dairy-free option, use plant-based milk.
