Equipment

  • 1 Pressure cooker Secret weapon for quick tender goodness
  • 1 Skillet or griddle For the final crisp up, can't skip that crunch
  • 1 Spatula To press and flip without squishing your masterpiece
  • 1 Timer or watch Helps you with timing those perfect melt moments

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 8 slices Sourdough bread the crust really holds up nice and toasty
  • 2 tablespoons Butter softened for spreading and making that lovely golden crust
  • 2 Apples thinly sliced, crisp and sweet, just right to balance cheddar
  • 8 ounces White cheddar cheese sliced, look for sharp for that perfect tang
  • 2 tablespoons Hot honey adds that sweet heat that y’all gonna love

Instructions

Instructions

  • First, preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat. You wanna get it hot enough so your bread crisps but don’t burn.
  • Next, butter one side of each sourdough slice. Don’t be shy – that butter’s gonna make the crunch happen.
  • Then, place 4 slices of bread, butter side down, right on the skillet. This is your base layer, so steady hands now.
  • Layer each with white cheddar slices. You want a good amount so every bite’s cheesy but not ooey-woey messy.
  • Then, arrange thin apple slices on top of the cheese. Apples bring that fresh crunch which pairs crazy good with cheddar.
  • Drizzle each with hot honey now. Just enough to give a little sweet kick without it being overpowering.
  • Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing up. Press down gently with your spatula to help everything meld.
  • Cook about 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and cheese melts. Check those steam cues and listen for that tender pull when you flip. Once done, slice it up and serve warm – you’re ready to dive in!

Notes

Wrap your extra grilled cheese tightly in plastic wrap to keep that melty goodness intact overnight. Store wrapped sandwiches in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat slowly in a skillet or oven to keep the crunch. For longer storage, freeze wrapped sandwiches and defrost overnight in fridge.
