Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 casserole dish (9x13 inches)
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 cooking spoon
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup egg noodles, uncooked
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup frozen peas optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is fully cooked and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  • Add the uncooked egg noodles and the cream mixture to the skillet with the beef and onions. If you are using peas, add them now as well. Stir everything together until evenly combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • After 25 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Allow the casserole to sit for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef if preferred.
Feel free to personalize the casserole by adding other vegetables such as bell peppers or corn.
