- 2 sleeves saltine crackers Approximately 88 crackers.
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 ounce ranch dressing mix One package.
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust for heat preference.
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce Such as Frank's RedHot, adjust for heat preference.
- 1 tablespoon crushed black pepper
In a large mixing bowl, combine the canola oil, ranch dressing mix, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, hot sauce, and black pepper.
Whisk the mixture well until all ingredients are fully combined and the oil is evenly seasoned.
Add the saltine crackers to the mixture. Use a spatula or your hands to gently toss the crackers until they are evenly coated with the marinade.
Place the coated crackers into an airtight container or resealable plastic bag. Ensure the crackers are stacked neatly to allow for even marination.
Let the crackers marinate for at least 24 hours, turning or shaking the container every few hours to make sure all crackers are infused with flavor.
For an extra crunch, preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Spread the marinated crackers in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
After baking, allow the crackers to cool completely before serving.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their crunch.
Feel free to customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of hot sauce and red pepper flakes.
These firecrackers can be a great addition to gift jars during the holiday season or as a unique party favor.
