  • 1 lb chicken thighs skin-on bone-in or boneless
  • ¼ teaspoon sesame seeds for garnishing
  • 1 tablespoon green onions finely chopped for garnishing
  • 1 tablespoon regular soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce or vegetarian stir fry sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, brown sugar, or light corn syrup
  • ½ tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon shaoxing wine or dry sherry wine or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper or black pepper

  • Mix regular soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, sesame oil, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and grated ginger in a bowl to create the marinade.
  • Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Place chicken skin-side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Save leftover marinade.
  • Air fry for 12 minutes.
  • Flip chicken and brush with remaining marinade.
  • Continue air frying for another 10 to 12 minutes until cooked through and crispy.
  • Let rest 5 minutes, then garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

Leftovers store well in the fridge 3-4 days, or freeze up to 2 months. Reheat in air fryer to keep crispy.
